Fourth graders wrapped up their ELA Unit this week with activities connected to Small Steps by Peg Kehret. Her memoir shares about having polio... They tried using marbles as she did in occupational therapy to strengthen her toes/feet muscles. They made milkshakes because Peg's saw parents got her a milkshake against doctor's orders because they felt she wasn't getting enough nourishment. And they played Candyland because it created by a woman named Eleanor ... while she was recovering from polio! Expanding vocabulary, building knowledge of history, and having fun... this is learning! Go Beavers!
